Brief History of
Riverwood Vineyards
Located minutes from Dundee, Oregon, Riverwood Farm is nestled between the Yamhill and Willamette Rivers in the Willamette Valley AVA. With a unique history in agriculture, the soils at Riverwood Vineyards draw upon its rich history and deep nutrients to produce exceptional Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
Local entrepreneur and almost larger-than-life figure Del Smith, founder of Evergreen International Aviation, planted the original 80 acres of vines at Riverwood Vineyards. Del was a driving force in bringing the Spruce Goose to Oregon. The famous airplane was transported by barge past Riverwood Vineyards in December 1992 on its journey to the Evergreen Air and Space Museum in McMinnville. Del's mansion, while no longer part of Riverwood Vineyard, is easily visible from many parts of the property.
Riverwood Vineyards has transformed under the direction of Farmland LP with the development of 270 acres of new vines in 2024 and the revitalization of hundreds of acres of hazelnut orchards. Biodiversity is a cornerstone of responsible production. Riverwood Vineyards proudly shares its property with Vital Riverwood Farms, which produces hazelnuts and organic blueberries. Cover crops are a key component for soil health at Riverwood Vineyards. Riverwood Vineyards is proud to be LIVE, Salmon Safe, and Bee Better certified.
